FRENCH TOAST WITH HONEY

A simple, comforting classic, this French toast is the perfect way to give new life to stale bread that might otherwise go to waste. Lightly spiced, golden on the outside, and finished with a generous drizzle of Wattlebird Honey, it’s an easy, satisfying breakfast or brunch option.

Serves: 2

Time: 15 minutes

INGREDIENTS

4 slices stale bread

2 eggs

½ cup milk

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Butter, for cooking

Wattlebird Honey, to serve

Fresh strawberries, to serve

METHOD

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract (if using) until well combined.

Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, allowing it to soak briefly on both sides without becoming overly soggy.

Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a small amount of butter.

Cook the soaked bread slices for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Transfer to serving plates and drizzle generously with Wattlebird Honey.

Serve immediately with fresh strawberries on top or on the side.
